When Dennis and his team approached us, they were looking at building their new brand and wanted a site that could showcase their connected-yet-different services. A recent merger with a local alarm installation company meant that this crew could offer low-voltage wiring options, such as home automation and security systems, as well as their traditional electrician services.

As there were multiple businesses – a parent company, an electrical company, and a security company – this team had three different URLs. We used the parent company URL,ThornIndustries.ca, as the main site, and then forwarded the ThornElectric.ca and ThornSecurity.ca URLs to the site pages that held the relevant information. This enables the team to have the functionality of three different sites, without the cost.

We built the site on the Divi framework, ensuring that it will load quickly on desktop computers, with full responsiveness to display nicely on mobile devices, regardless of their screen size.

For security, we are continuing to use the Wordfence plugin, which helps prevent unauthorized logins and brute-force attacks. There are too many script-kiddies running malicious programs designed to sniff out vulnerable websites, so it’s best to protect your site.

For caching, we’ve been using a plugin designed and created by a local team here in Victoria. Pegasaas Accelerator is gaining interest and attention from some seriously big players, largely because it is easy to use and works very well.
